Michelle Bancewicz from Wicked Tuna is the only female captain on the show. She started fishing at a very young age.

Her father was a recreational fisherman and they had a family boat that they used to spend every weekend or vacation on. 

She and her brother used to sleep on the boat during their teenage and work on the party boats.

She started her first job at the age of 14 and she just fell in love with fishing. Bancewicz also worked in a car garage and was also a waitress at a car for a couple of years.

Her family had a captain's license, which encouraged her to get her license too. Since then, she has been on the sea, fishing and making her fortune from it.

In an interview she said working on Wicked Tuna was a blast and a lot of fun.

Besides tuna fishing, she loves spending time with her two teenage daughters. She comes to the land because of her love for them.

Her younger daughter is usually on the boat with her but she is not interested in fishing like her.

But her older daughter recently started wanting to come out fishing. In the beginning, she just thought it was gross.

Now that her mother is on the show, they’ve started showing an interest.
